A flurry of posts last week, then nothing. I don't think I can do the daily thing just yet.
- Healthcare conference went very well, with well over 150 people attending, and great panelists including Rep. Kathy Manderino, the prime sponsor of the bill, and Kathy McIlvaine-Smith, who is a businesswoman from West Chester and a big proponent of single-payer. Alan Jacobs of Isaac's Restaurants was on my panel (business), and spoke passionately about the problems of the healthcare system and his desire to see single-payer work. Alan has 700 employees. Overall it was a great start to 2008 for the healthcare movement.
- Kathy said to me after her panel that we need to embrace Rendell's bill, because it doesn't block ours and has some good cost-saving elements. Fair enough--we'll take a look.
- I'm transitioning my role at the company from founding CEO to something with less day to day detail work and more forward-looking work. I'm looking forward to it but there are details to work out.
- Today I rejected a request from Philip Morris for an RFP for their corporate giving program. We simply don't sell to cigarette companies. That's not a stated policy, but it's what happens when you're a socially responsible company--it's just obvious.
- After cleaning the kitchen yesterday I did some research and vegged in front of the TV, watching a bit of football. Sometimes that's a useful waste of time.
- Looking forward to this week--diving into some long-term planning and hosting a guest from the West Coast.

Hi Charlie!
I monitor Google Alerts on behalf of my new company, Papilia. I see you ref'd the Giftworks website. Papilia is in the same space as Giftworks and part of my charter in life is to avoid diverting my eyes... so, I wanted to hear more (if you are so inclined and have time) about GiftwWorks, and if you have ever looked at our product? Also, if you are a Development person, or involved in Online Fundraising in the Non profit space, I would like to talk to you about your experience with GirtWorks and other solutions. Thanks for your time in reading this email. Thomas Groden. thomas.groden@papilia.com 415-692-0071 x122
